Horo_Traveler's post on a vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin (MUT) 34mm offers a timely reflection on JLC's historical manufacturing prowess. This article delves into the enduring appeal of this specific reference, highlighting its design integrity and the technical sophistication of its ultra-thin movement, qualities that continue to resonate with collectors today.

Is the dial redone? It’s spotless, looks very very good
These watches were very well designed and are quite robust despite being ultra-thin, with a 5 bar water resistance rating. This is what JLC does really well, and the 849 movement is spectacular for its precision and robustness even though it is only 1.87mm thick. The watch itself is only about 4.5mm thick if I remember right. Perhaps someone has a more exact measurement. I consider a robust ultra-thin watch to be a "complication" in itself.
When I saw the 34mm size I thought it was an older watch, not from the 90s, even though it looks pristine. Thanks for all the info you wrote, I didn’t know of this reference and it’s absolutely beautiful, especially the side of the watch, the lug design, it looks kind of art nouveau, very elaborate, elegant and well thought of. Thanks for sharing.
