Amanico, a respected voice in the WatchProSite community, raises critical questions about the authenticity of a Jaeger-LeCoultre Quartermaster listed by Antiquorum. His detailed comparison of the auctioned watch against known correct references highlights discrepancies in reference numbers, lug design, crown attachment, and dial typography. This deep dive into vintage JLC specifics underscores the importance of meticulous research for collectors navigating the auction market.

My heart started to beat fast, very fast, till I got a deeper look on this watch.

Credit: Antiquorum.

It is, according to Antiquorum, a reference E 326.

First problem, the Quartermaster is not a E 326. The E 326 is a classic, lovely and dressy automatic watch, small seconds with some sensual lugs.

Second problem, the Quartermaster showed here doesn't have the lugs it must have. Here is a correct Quartermaster:

In black:

And in white.

The correct reference for the Quartermaster is 2405.

Third problem, look at how the crown is attached to the case on the correct... Different on the " weird "...

Even the font is different.

So, a " Quartermaster " to avoid...

Best,

Nicolas

Referring to the noble art of ripping people off as “work”?

I think you are too nice, I have several other more adequate terms in mind.
