jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) shares the excitement of a friend's new acquisition: a special edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox 1 Alarm Aston Martin. This post captures the camaraderie among collectors as they gather at the JLC Singapore boutique, highlighting the unique features of the watch and the shared passion for horology.

A long time collector friend of mine, Kheng, (kfc on PuristSPro) went to collect a very special JLC which he ordered some weeks ago.
A boutique special edition JLC Amvox 1 Alarm.

Another dear friend of ours, Charles (cmlee) and I accompanied him to the JLC Singapore boutique today to collect it. All 3 of us wore a JLC watch to the JLC boutique

3 PuristS and brothers united, 3 JLCs

Kheng had an option to go for either the Amvox 1 Alarm Aston Martin special edition in calf strap or the special bracelet that is only available for this watch.

The bracelet is very special. Not too bling as the middle part is matt polished. What is amazing to us is that the links are all joined by spring bars, instead of the normal pins. I thought normally spring bars are only used for the clasp. The boutique manager explained that spring bars joining the links are better as pins tend to be knocked in when resizing. Most staff are "lazy" to remove the whole watch to resize and hence just resize the bracelet, removing or adding links, with the watch still attached to the bracelet - this can cause vibrations and stress to mechanical movements. Interesting learning for us.

Kheng decided to go for the bracelet version in the end (and if anything goes wrong next time with his choice, he has decided to blame me for life for it! - quoting him as I somewhat commented the bracelet is nicer for him)... opps

A happy Kheng - came with 1 JLC (the tourby) and left with 2!

Of course, no visit to the JLC boutique is possible without getting poisoned by some lovely JLC timepieces....
Even without Vlad around, we end up self-poisoning ourselves.... by asking the boutique manager to show us some timepieces
We also admired each other's current JLC watches. A mini GTG while collecting a watch of a mate is always nice.

Kheng did well to grab this Watch. I said it many times, but this modern evocation of the legendary Polaris is well thought, executed and born. Same case than the Polaris, to be precise, and the dial is a modern evocation of the icon. He will certainly have a lot of pleasure living with it. As for Charles, he jumped on another very nice Watch from the Manufacture. A great re edition. Bravo, guys! All the best, Nicolas

Camaraderie, sharing the joys of our shared passion...and getting a new watch! All good stuff. As it happens, I spent yesterday afternoon at an AD with a friend helping him to decide on his first JLC and a first Reverso. I will share just one pic, if you don't mind: I will let you know how that turns out... If I did not have the Polaris seen above, the AMVOX1 in some iteration would surely be on my wrist by now. That is a watch I have thought about for years. It is funny how certain watches just

Some jlc venom were left behind then ... :p It's fun to hang around with like minded watch collectors in person and on the forum indeed, esp when collecting watches together and celebrating as a community! Thanks for your encouragement and kind words to our friends in Singapore Nicolas. Hope to see you in Asia again someday Cheers Robin
