Slightly more than four months ago, Torsti Laine introduced the V38 in a 38mm case with a Vaucher VMF5401 automatic movement and a 48 hour power reserve.  His previous offerings were in 40.5mm which I had tried on and found them too large for my small wrist.  When I read about the V38, I decided to place an order, the only dilemma being what dial to choose. Laine offers a wide variety of dials from a combination of hammered and guilloche and I opted for the triple guilloche.  One could easily be swayed by at least three of four different dials so really, there is no such thing as an ugly dial - they were all gorgeous and it was a case of beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

The watch finally arrived an hour ago and I was quite concerned how the dial would look. This is the problem with ordering a coloured dial without having set eyes on the actual watch.  To my amazement and ultimate relief when I opened the box, I set eyes on one of the most beautiful dials I have ever seen.  To think this watch is mine and I bought it based on photos on the internet is something I felt like taking my left hand to shake my right hand in a self congratulatory gesture! smile  (ok,ok, I actually did it  smile)

This watch is very wearable and light. It is 9mm thick and I would recommend anyone wanting something a bit special but who cannot stretch to a Voutilainen to seriously consider a Laine. The raised Breguet numerals and the exquisite hands add to the beauty of the watch.

Please excuse my poor photography which really does not do this dial the justice it deserves. Also I have no idea why my photos are sideways as they appeared straight before attaching them!  smile

You are correct!

This photo was from the Laine website. As I do not take decent photos, I wanted a good photo of the dial. In addition, my watch has Breguet hands which I specifically ordered.

Thank you very much Mahesh!

You really need to see this dial in person as the photos don't really show the true beauty of the dial. I have never seen a more beautiful dial to the extent where I am planning my next order with Laine.

Great dial combination! I've been considering the V38 for a while now..

Thanks for sharing your experience and photos of your recent purchase!, I've been wondering if in the process of deciding the dial color and guilloche patterns and all, did Laine give you some mock-up photos? some actual dial photos? because I'm not good at photoshop nor imagination, so it will probably be very hard to choose "my perfect" combination. Thanks again for sharing!
