The Heinrich is no longer part of the current Lang & Heyne catalog and it is believed that only around 20 were made.

It features four complications:

  • Anti-retrograde radial pointer date (it jumps across from 31 to 1 at the beginning of the month)
  • Power reserve indicator
  • Remontoir (constant force mechanism)
  • Dead-beat seconds

The first example below features a platinum case (39.4 x 11.5 x 46 mm lug-to-lug) and heat-blued pear hands.

Close ups show imperfections and I know some of you will probably point them out.

Since this is hand-made, I personally don't mind.

The watch is powered by Caliber V, which features a "trigonal" bridge holding the going train.

And a hand-engraved balance cock with diamond end stone and swan neck fine adjustment.

And solarized crown and ratchet wheels.

But you may prefer heat-blued cathedral hands, so here is a white gold example to please you.

Or maybe you prefer rose gold, with a rose gold date pointer?

Or maybe you prefer the date pointer to be heat-blued too and the crown to feature a sapphire cabochon?

So, impressive watchmaking, here, but no enamel dial and a power reserve indicator which might be controversial: what do you think, do you like this discontinued model?

Thanks for reading.

Best, Emmanuel

About the Lang & Heyne Heinrich

The Lang & Heyne Heinrich represents a cornerstone of contemporary German independent watchmaking, embodying the brand's dedication to traditional Saxon horology with a distinctive aesthetic. Founded in Dresden, Lang & Heyne draws inspiration from the region's rich watchmaking heritage, translating historical pocket watch designs into modern wristwatches. The Heinrich, named after Heinrich der Erlauchte (Henry the Illustrious), Margrave of Meissen, stands as a testament to this philosophy, offering a unique blend of classical elegance and innovative display.

Technically, the Heinrich is powered by the in-house manual-wind Caliber VI, a movement celebrated for its exquisite hand-finishing, including a three-quarter plate, hand-engraved balance cock, and swan-neck fine adjustment. Its dial layout is particularly noteworthy, featuring a peripheral date display indicated by a blued steel hand, and a power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock marked "AB" (down) and "AUF" (up). The silver dial, adorned with classic Roman numerals and blued spade hands, is housed within a precious metal case, typically white gold or platinum, characterized by its elegant, often stepped, lugs.

As a product of an independent atelier, the Lang & Heyne Heinrich appeals to discerning collectors who prioritize artisanal craftsmanship, exclusivity, and a unique design language over mass-market appeal. Its limited production numbers and the meticulous attention to detail in every component contribute to its high collectibility and strong position within the haute horlogerie segment. Owning a Heinrich signifies an appreciation for the enduring traditions of watchmaking, reinterpreted with a contemporary and individualistic spirit.

I like the movement, a lot, but the dial doesn't speak to me, at the contrary of the former ones.

I understand that. Is it the PR indicator?

The whole dial and the fact it is not enameled.

Love the movement side…

And the deadbeat seconds. Would have preferred it without the date and PR. And the triple lugs personally don’t work for me🤷🏻‍♂️

I completely understand your reservations.

The triple lugs are featured on all LH models. But other models have a "cleaner" or more classic dial, that's for sure. Best, Emmanuel

I know the triple lugs are a part of the DNA…

But not my favorite design choice 🤷🏻‍♂️
