Emmanuel, known as quattro on WatchProSite, offers a deep dive into the Lang & Heyne 'Heinrich,' a discontinued model with an estimated production of only 20 pieces. His detailed exploration highlights the watch's unique complications and design variations, providing a valuable reference for collectors interested in this rare independent horology piece. Emmanuel's post serves as an essential resource for understanding the nuances of a watch that has become a significant part of Lang & Heyne's history.

The Heinrich is no longer part of the current Lang & Heyne catalog and it is believed that only around 20 were made.

It features four complications:

  • Anti-retrograde radial pointer date (it jumps across from 31 to 1 at the beginning of the month)
  • Power reserve indicator
  • Remontoir (constant force mechanism)
  • Dead-beat seconds

The first example below features a platinum case (39.4 x 11.5 x 46 mm lug-to-lug) and heat-blued pear hands.

Close ups show imperfections and I know some of you will probably point them out.

Since this is hand-made, I personally don't mind.

The watch is powered by Caliber V, which features a "trigonal" bridge holding the going train.

And a hand-engraved balance cock with diamond end stone and swan neck fine adjustment.

And solarized crown and ratchet wheels.

But you may prefer heat-blued cathedral hands, so here is a white gold example to please you.

Or maybe you prefer rose gold, with a rose gold date pointer?

Or maybe you prefer the date pointer to be heat-blued too and the crown to feature a sapphire cabochon?

So, impressive watchmaking, here, but no enamel dial and a power reserve indicator which might be controversial: what do you think, do you like this discontinued model?

Thanks for reading.

Best, Emmanuel

And the deadbeat seconds. Would have preferred it without the date and PR. And the triple lugs personally don’t work for me🤷🏻‍♂️

The triple lugs are featured on all LH models. But other models have a "cleaner" or more classic dial, that's for sure. Best, Emmanuel

the movement is sublime ( well of course ... it's L&H ) But I don't like the dial, too much going on and they make such great grand feu enamel dials The seconde morte is a complication I don't like either

I think the blued hands look superb and the overall look and style is quite elegant. Marc

That said, I could live with the platinum example with pear hands. The PR indicator bothers me, but I know that I would love the experience of looking at it while winding the watch (which has only 33h of PR). But, yes, there might be better options in the LH catalog, like your gorgeous Johann...
