Rld brings to light the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Kalenderwoche, a rare limited edition from 2006 created for Uhren Huber's 150th anniversary. This post explores the unique aspects of this model, particularly its exclusive Calibre L045.1 and the week-number complication, which was unfamiliar even to many seasoned Lange collectors. The discussion seeks to confirm original pricing and gather insights on this intriguing and scarce timepiece.
The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.
This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.
The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.
.. this is the LE for Huber's 150th Anniversary. And yes, if my memory serves me right, all three metal were 50 pieces LE. It is rare in that Lange even made special movement used only for this model which is so-called "shop LE". Good old days, I guess.... I don't recall where I took these, but I found them in my HDD..... Ken
Hi Ken, Yes, what struck me is that it was my impression that most, maybe all, of these special editions for a boutique or dealer used existing movements and involved a modified case, such as one with a different metal, blued hands, etc. This was the first such Lange special edition that I was aware of with an entirely different movement.
An interesting piece indeed, albeit a "simple" complication. Best Moritz
It is for me the most unusual 1815 ever. A bit strange too: it displays the weeks, the day but not the date. It has its interest for the weeks display but I was not a great fan of it, I found the dial too busy without forgetting the pushers on the caseside. Fx
Especially that tray! Hope all is well! Tschuss Stephen
... to the list. I just wish I knew the lug size -- 19mm or 20mm? Also, I THINK the dial on the PT version is silver/argente (same as gold models), not rhodium, but I couldn't confirm that from any trustworthy internet source. The PT dial looks ever so slightly darker than the gold dials in the one photo I've seen of all 3 watches together, but I'm not sure if that's just a lighting artifact.
