Jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) recounts his experience at A. Lange & Söhne's Gala Dinner in Hong Kong, celebrating the 200th Anniversary of founder F.A. Lange. His post vividly captures the evening's highlights, particularly the unique opportunity for every guest to try and hear the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater chime. This article offers a glimpse into exclusive brand events and the special interactions collectors have with rare timepieces.

Last week, several Lange collectors in the region were invited to Lange's Gala dinner to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the manufacture's founder, F.A Lange.

It was a most enjoyable evening getting to meet fellow Lange collectors from many parts of Asia as well as several of the friendly Lange staff around the globe. There were also two opera performances during the dinner which we all enjoyed.

The highlight of the evening was when Mr Wilhelm Schmid invited all of us (yes every single guest!) to try the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater and to hear the chimes. To have the watch chime by each and every guest (more than 50 I reckon) that evening was amazing. We went in batches of course but almost all guests get to play with the watch. It may be a once in a lifetime moment for many of us! smile

To me it shows Lange is confident that the watch works very well as I think these mechanics are rather delicate and if I ever own a minute repeater, I won't let my friends chime it again and again for 50x times or so!

Some pics here to share. I already shared the videos of the chimes of this watch in another post here:

Enjoy ! smile

Cheers

Looking at the statue of

F.A. Lange, I just noticed that he looked just like V.I. Lenin. Hmm... I'm sure it does not influence to the quality of Lange watches; perhaps just open new opportunities in Russia. Have a nice weekend! Kari

So, there is a Robin in the Lange Family? :)))))

Thanks for the report, Robin. One question: How did the Minute Repeater sound? Best, Nicolas

There is something positive: the watch was still working after tests by 50 people! [nt]

Precisely Fx!

Although Wilhelm had to wind it during our turn (we were one of the last few). The chiming took quite a lot of energy I guess Cheers Robin
