Clueless_Collector recounts his insightful, albeit brief, visit to the A. Lange & Söhne manufacture in Glashütte. His narrative captures the essence of the German watchmaking experience, from navigating the scenic drive to exploring various departments like finishing, parts, and assembly. The post offers a personal perspective on the brand's dedication to craftsmanship and the unique atmosphere of its production facility.
It was an arrangement to fit into my Europe vacation.
Lange & Sohne was kind to allocate few hours in the morning to show me the manufacture's various departments, starting from the finishing, parts, assembly, etc.
As the appointment was at 9am, I had to checkout early from Dresden to drive there and the navigation was not helpful. I learnt that if you enter the city "Glashutte" in the GPS, it will show >10 Glashuttes so I was "screwed" and lost, not sure what to do...Luckily, a call to Lange and the reception lady helped to figure out using the zip code is the best option.
This was not the typical tour because I had to rush to Leipzig for my BMW i8 event at 3 pm so I had to leave at noon.
3 people from Lange factory showing 3 of us (me, wife and son) around so we really appreciate the "private" tour. The drive from Dresden to Glashutte through the country road was very nice.
Nice scenery, like these wind turbines, replacing wind mills?
There's the Man....hey, we have the same birthday, Feb 18th.
Drove past the valley of watch manufactures, as featured in Bruno's....but no 7 series BMW or nice hotel this time, only my rental Volvo XC60.
Now, snacks are here after the tour! Let's enjoy.
Trays of temptations, starting now....the one in the middle is a nice one.
It's the striking sound and minute repeating resonance that's causing the blurry photo, not my hand or camera

)
My favorite tray of the day.
My wife likes the middle one, Saxonia Thin 40mm
Ladies choice.
This is in a dream watch category.
This is super nice but too thick for me.
This MOP looks good on her wrist too.
I seem to like this one more than the 1815 Boutique Chrono now.
The 1815 Chrono movement shot is still the most striking and beautiful.
RG version, still prefer the boutique version.
The popular 2016 novelty
This is still the best looking Chrono imho, sorry for poor photo. This was later taken at the Munich boutique as the manufacture doesn't have it.
So, what is it going to be? Headache ....
It was a nice visit, and like to Thank the Lange team for hosting.
