It has been written thousands of times,  The Longines Legend Diver is a Community Watch.

Many of us fell for it. With reason.

After all, this is one of the rare modern Longines which is faithful to the original, splendid, well made, with a gorgeous dial, and for  once, the automatic movement is not a treason to the vintage, which was automatic, too.

So, many of us have the pleasure to own the Tribute...

But how many of us do also have the vintage?

This one is on my wrist since the beginning of this week, and I must say that I am thrilled like the first day.

As a huge lover of the Super Compressor Case, I own three of them. The Longines, naturally, but also the Universal Genève Polerouter Sub, and the Jaeger Lecoultre Polaris. 4, I should say, as I have the two versions of the Polaris, the 65 and 68.

To me, these are the 4 most desirable Super Compressor watches, even if I could also ( if I had them ), include the Benrus, the Bulova and the Droz.

But, back to the topic, this Longines Diver is really something to admire and love.

Are you tempted by the modern / vintage Duo?

Best,

Nicolas

nice Longines Diver

great watch you have there! I love them. Is yours the first reference (7042) or one of the later ones? The first references (7042-1) are increasingly difficult to find..

Thanks, V. Nice post

I'd add one. Not at he bottom but on top of your list of 4. The vintage Vulcain cricket nautical. BR

Of course! Where was my mind to forget it!!!

I am running after one for a too long time, I guess... You are ABSOLUTELY correct, so correct that I would put it in the top 4. Best, Z. Nicolas

I am surely tempted by the duo dear Nicolas...

... but regrettably never have seen a vintage one down here. I already got the modern version, but be assured I will not let pass a vintage one if it ever crosses Dexter´s path! Beautiful example you got there my friend! With a lovely patinated dial! I´m sure you are enjoying it so much! Un abrazo mi amigo! Afectuosamente, Abel.

Gracias, Amigo. Yes, they are not too easy to catch, but this is not impossible. Abrazo! [nt]
