Longines military watch

One of the finest releases from this years Baselworld is the military watch from Longines.

An incredible Vintage homage to a WW2 British military pilots watch, it is superb modern rendition.

Its key features are the brilliant steel case that captures beautifully the essence of a vintage watch and then the dial! What a dial, it’s mesmerising and looks like its 100 years old. Each dial is unique as the age spots are applied randomly.

It really is an excruciatingly beautiful watch and 💯 % on my wish list.

Technical details:
Case in stainless steel 38.5mm
Movement is the L888, which beats at a unique rate of 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz), with a power reserve of approximately 65 hours.

It has stunning blued hands.

It comes on a vintage inspired strap, 19mm lug width, but if I can get my hands on one, it will definitely be going on a khaki or grey nato strap. Come to think of it, it will kick arse on a nice vintage bund!

The best part, the price is approximately £1500

Watch collecting doesn’t get better than this!

Due in December

With several recent Longines and Omega watches being offered without a date And they appear to sell, so it must be possible! Interesting piece for sure and would love to see it live...

The blank case back is soooo cool. Who would've thought it? Are the hands blued? I hope not. I think I'm the one collector in the watch world who doesn't care much for blued hands. Nice post. M4

Prevents rust, nowadays sometimes seen as luxury. Always interesting to see in historical context. Dirk

Well, Longines has certainly successfully captured the mood of the context: reminds me of a war museum I went in and straight out again. Not my taste ...

But the sides of the case have a pristine brush finish, haha.
