Mach's acquisition of the Mathey-Tissot x Massena LAB Type XX Tribute Chronograph, specifically unit #15, offers WatchProSite readers a detailed look at this highly anticipated collaboration. His post provides an excellent opportunity to compare this tribute piece against a significant vintage-inspired chronograph, the Breitling AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition, highlighting key design choices and their historical fidelity.

The Breitling AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is a faithful homage to the original Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI, a pilot's chronograph from the mid-20th century. This re-edition is part of Breitling's historical re-issue program, aiming to bring back significant designs from its archives with modern manufacturing standards while preserving vintage aesthetics.
This chronograph features a 41mm stainless steel case, characteristic of its era, with a bidirectional rotating bezel. It is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a hand-wound chronograph movement. The dial layout includes a 15-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and a running seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, replicating the original design.
The Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is significant for collectors due to its commitment to historical accuracy, from the dial typography and sub-dial configuration to the case dimensions. It appeals to enthusiasts of vintage pilot's watches and those who appreciate manually wound chronographs with a strong connection to Breitling's heritage.
You beat me by 11! I was hoping to get the same number as my CK... but alas it wasn't meant to be. I really like your Breitling too! The Breguet will certainly complete your collection!
Congrats again on yours! Enjoy it!🥂
How do you like your Breitling shown here? Both are really stunning! Bravo.
Jack Stack not bad either.
I’m happy it’s faithful to the original with the 15-minute recorder at 3 o’clock and not a 30-minute recorder that more modern movements are usually based on.
that I've seen that Mathey Tissot...... hmm...... what are the chances of finding one that sweet? Another Brietling mey be in ny future. Congratulations on that pair!
