I am not trying to compare and ask which one is better, just sharing my happiness that today is full moon and enjoying the beauty of each of these PP pc…
The best decision I have ever taken is when I decided to implement my « less is more » strategy. Step by step I go one step further and gradually reach the « point G » of horological pleasure 😉.

Most of you know my Wonder Watch, the 3448 I have dreamed of during 20 years before I can grab this incredible piece 2nd series with extremely rare PP crown

The 5970 needs no further introduction it’s pure pleasure to wear it always but with full moon it’s even better

My latest catch is this beautiful 3940J first series from 1985, probably the coolest under the radar daily wearer ever. This moon phase is as beautiful as on my two other pc’s I wish PP still make such beautiful ones but after all that’s why I love vintage PP…
Thanks for reading 😉

About the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 3448

The Patek Philippe Reference 3448 is notable as the brand's first self-winding perpetual calendar wristwatch. Introduced in 1962, it marked a significant technical advancement for Patek Philippe, combining the convenience of an automatic movement with the intricate perpetual calendar complication. This reference established a new standard for complicated wristwatches and laid the groundwork for subsequent automatic perpetual calendar models. It was produced for over two decades, demonstrating its enduring appeal and technical success.

The watch features an 18k yellow gold case with a diameter of 37.5 mm, housing the automatic caliber 27-460 Q. This movement provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is champagne in color, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch offers a water resistance of 30 meters. The bezel is polished, complementing the overall classic design of the timepiece.

Reference 3448 is highly regarded by collectors for its historical significance as Patek Philippe's inaugural automatic perpetual calendar. It appeals to those who appreciate the blend of traditional watchmaking with technical innovation. The model was primarily produced in yellow gold, with very few examples in white gold, rose gold, or platinum, making those variants particularly rare. Its production run concluded in 1985, solidifying its place as a key reference in the history of complicated Patek Philippe wristwatches.

The 5970 for me

as for the moonphase and also as for the watch, Mike! I remember very well when you went through this phase and you wrote your new objects of desire in a slip of paper… Your question was like this: why do we own several good paintings if we can get one Rembrandt instead? Go further on your way, my Friend! Yours, Adam

Hard to say less-is-more here. For me, these are a more-is-more proposition. :)

Wonderful pieces. The 3448 is just perfect. The nicest and cleanest PC. And the 5970 is my favorite Patek of all time and best PCC, hands-down. An absolute treasure. Perfect size, design....everything (except the price!). The 3940 is a legend too. So slim and well designed yet subtle. Although in gold, none of them scream "look at me," especially the PCs with their smaller sizes; and yet they are eye-catching and captivating. Any one of them could be a gentleman's only watch, worn forever and pa

Thanks for your kind words John

To be honest I really can’t say I like one of the three more than the others, they complement each other, a kind of ultimate PC collection for me, and all of them are giving me immense pleasure when looking at them
