The Type-02 Chronograph watch boasts a '70s vibe with a massive 43mm size and robust oiled-leather strap. While it lacks fine finishing, it offers a Seiko NE86 movement akin to the 8R48 caliber, delivering reliability and a 45-hour power reserve. The watch's brand name, Mirco, creatively blends Japa
As part of my recent affordable-pieces binge, I recently picked up this watch that first caught my attention way back in 2019 with its cool ‘70s sort of vibe and unapologetic massivity (43mm in diameter and probably around 15mm tall).

The Type-02 Chronograph wears as large as its dimensions suggest and is quite a behemoth to the eye, but it feels stable and snug on the wrist, thanks in part to the thick and sturdy oiled-leather strap from Asakusa, Tokyo.
I can’t say that fine finishing is this watch’s forte (I discern some irregularities in the way that light reflects off of the satin-finished sections of the case), but am willing to forgive it that shortcoming since I wasn’t expecting GS-like qualities in this casual, approachable and affordable timepiece.
The movement ticking inside isn’t identified on the Mirco website, but a web search indicates that it is a Seiko NE86, which I understand to be essentially the same as the Seiko 8R48 caliber (with column wheel, vertical clutch and ca. 45-hours of power reserve) that Seiko uses in its current Prospex Line. It isn’t exquisitely smooth, but instead workmanlike, robust and dependable.
The name Mirco initially reminded me of a well-known former MMA fighter by that name, but I learned that it is fact a portmanteau of the Japanese words for future and past (mirai and kako) and one that I find kind of catchy as well as appropriate.
I appreciate your strap suggestions, too, Gray w/orange stitching sounds like it would a superb match!
Time for me to hit the hay, thanks for looking. Hope you guys have a great day.
This watch looks good with strong 70s vibe, which is nice! Enjoy! Best, Emmanuel

The company is based in Fukushima and the head of co. told me that one of the reasons he wanted to start it was to help reinvigorate the areas that were hit hard by the triple disasters in 2011.
