No, no, I'm not talking about this superb Xmas log created by Pier-Marie le Moigno, the pastry chef of the Park Hyatt Hotel...

I'm talking about my 3 fav Montblanc of the year.

And good point: they belong to different lines of the collection.

Let's start with the TimeWalker TwinFly Chronograph GreyTech.

I liked this watch because it proposed the in-house movement outside the Rieussec context which was a good way to put it in a new dynamic. Moreover, I found its design very appealing due to the dial lay-out and the harmonious colours:

The Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Open Hometime is an attractive watch and maybe my fav automatic one of the Rieussec line.

The useful complication and the open dial which brings a feeling of depth were clever additions without disturbing the classy and original design of the Rieussec watches.

My fav remains this Villeret Vintage Tachydate... the size is perfect (38,5mm), the low frequency movement is superb and even the date display doesn't spoil the vintage feel of the dial.

A great watch.

And what about you? What were your fav 2012 Montblanc watches?

And the back would convince even the most reluctant...

I love the idea to see such big balance (more than 14mm) in a mouvement housed inside a "normal" size case: The charm of the low frequency movement: Thanks for your input! Fx

Well, my waistline cannot afford the first :-)

and hopefully my wallet will allow me to afford the Tachydate in rosegold. The dial on the rose gold version is off-white. Coupled with the rosegold case, it possesses a very beautiful and warm glow. Best, Mike

Thanks Mike!

But I will be frank with you: even if the date is perfectly integrated on the dial, I prefer the Villeret chronographs without the date display. Thanks for your input! Fx

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that...

It was the Rieussec timepiece that first attracted my attention to Montblanc watches. Its a fascinating design with an innovative chronograph movement. However, I find myself very sensitive to the dial layout and colors; some I really like and some not so much! The "open" version leaves me cold, for instance. And perhaps I'm alone in preferring the manual over automatic? Anyway you like it, the Rieussec is a real winner :-) My next choice is ANYTHING from Montblanc Villeret. They haven't put a f
