Jaseewasee's recent acquisition of a limited edition green dial monopusher Montblanc, featuring the esteemed Caliber 13.21, highlights the brand's growing appeal among discerning collectors. His experience underscores a common challenge for owners of Montblanc timepieces with Minerva movements: navigating the servicing process. This article synthesizes community insights to provide clarity on maintaining these horological treasures.

The Rolex Bubble Back, reference 1858, represents an early example of Rolex's self-winding waterproof wristwatches. This reference is part of the broader Bubble Back family, characterized by its distinctive domed case back designed to accommodate the thicker automatic movement of the era. It showcases Rolex's foundational efforts in developing robust and reliable automatic timepieces for everyday wear, laying groundwork for future Oyster Perpetual models.
This particular reference features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm in diameter. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a silver dial. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, specifically the Boucheron 1858 caliber, offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The fixed bezel and leather strap complete the watch's classic presentation.
For collectors, the reference 1858 holds interest as an early and relatively rare iteration within the Bubble Back series, especially in white gold. Its larger case size for the period also makes it appealing to modern tastes. The presence of a date complication adds to its functionality, distinguishing it from simpler time-only Bubble Back models and highlighting Rolex's early integration of practical features.
In the US, some of us had bad experiences. In France, the service was very satisfactory. Enjoy! Nicolas
I have both watches in my collection - the green mono pusher is a beauty but I prefer it on the original strap!!! The retour seconde a zero is a beauty as well with a very special caliber. For servicing it must be sent to Villeret, I would not trust any other service center... Enjoy and grow your MB Villeret collection!!!
if the watch just need regular service, no need to replace parts, i think local watchmaker can do it for you.
They never mentioned that to me
The RaZ is quite the watch. I had tried one and the guilloche is spectacular, and having the zero reset on a large central seconds is a delight to see. I wish the case fit me better because I would have added one for sure. For me I had a watch sent to villeret through the nyc boutique. I don't remember specifics, but think it took around 5month? The green mono was what got me to contact the boutique a few years ago. As I was emailing them I said my first love in watches was the chrono pulsograph
I was watching the Tim Masso review on my collection villeret 1858 vintage chronograph and he made note it was grey gold, ie, not rhodium plated. Unsure where he got that info
