Bill, a long-time collector, offers a nostalgic look back at the Officine Panerai market from a decade ago, a period he describes as the 'golden age' of collecting. His personal collection, frozen in time, serves as a tangible reminder of an era when scarcity and waitlists defined the Panerai experience. This article delves into Bill's reflections and the community's shared memories of that unique horological landscape.

My collection froze in time probably 10 years ago. Things started to move too fast and it got harder to keep up with so many models. Back in the day you had to waitlist for almost every model even the Base Pam 000 and that added some charm as 90%+ of the time you got your order with 1000-2000 made each year. You could always trade your watch going forward and retain retail price as a base.

Can you spot the models here?

Thanks for sharing. I too had a big itch for Panerai in the day, with 7. Now I am down to 3.

Your post reminded me of the crazy and fun Panerai days. I really enjoyed collecting them and the sheer enthusiasm generated by people you met and had one on their wrist. Happy days !

lived in the catacombs. When models were whispered for fear of missing out on the chance of getting one. When you walked into a resaler's shop, where you saw only a couple of models in the showcases and then they took you "in the back" and revealed some superstars, for your eyes only, and for the right price I don't see the 203. Did you find a "good home" for it?
