Another day at the 'office' with this beauty:
This past weekend I paid a visit to the Omega Boutique on Fifth Avenue in NYC to acquire a deployant or folding clasp:
I've been considering custom straps from multiple sources. Fortunately, I never pulled the trigger since I still have a lot to learn with my first Omega. Jacob, Adderly and the rest of the staff were very patient and helpful. Here are some of my key findings:
● The tail folds inwards creating a nice, clean look.
● Thus, there are no need for keepers.
● To fit within the folding clasp, the tail needs to gradually get thinner by the tip ~2mm. Thick straps won't work with these.
● Typically, standard straps are ~ 115 / 75mm. With Omega, both pieces are almost identical in length with the tail portion just slightly longer.
● Thanks to Jacob, he helped determine the best lengths for my scrawny wrist size (~6.7"). I'm looking at 95 / 90mm.
● There is also no need for the notch at the 16mm point that attaches to the folding clasp. Omega straps run straight.
When I spoke with Jacob, I also mentioned that I was surprised Omega didn't include any extra spring bars. He replied that there were extra spring bars - they are within the strap changing tool. All I had to do was shake it and I would hear them. Sure enough:
