Dr No's initial encounter with the Omega Speedmaster Professional in Sedna Gold offers a compelling look into the allure of precious metal Speedmasters. His vivid descriptions and personal reflections highlight why this particular reference captivates collectors, contrasting it with other iconic Speedmaster models. This article delves into his first impressions and the community's shared appreciation for this distinctive timepiece.

. . . earlier today.  Eventually, the conversation turned to Omega.

"Have you seen the Sedna Speedy Pro, Captain?"

"Not in person yet," said he, "but the local boutique will be getting one in soon.  I'm most interested."

"In the States", said I, "we have a way of expressing our admiration for an especially attractive woman: 'built like a brick ____house.'

"Oh, you mean like the Commodores song?"

The Captain obviously knew precisely what I meant.

I continued: "Well, the Sedna's built like a brick house from what I can tell online.  I've gotta to see one in the metal."

After exchanging farewells, I called the local Omega boutique.  Cut to the chase: they were getting their first Sedna in today.  I cancelled plans for dinner with the family and drove to Beverly Hills.

First, the preliminaries: third generation sapphire Pro . . .

. . . and hesalite.

They're like the old Miller Lite commercials: "Everything you've always wanted in a beer . . .

. . . and less."  Meaning, everything we've always wanted in a Speedmaster, with nothing added.  Pure.  Both compelling, hesalite more so.

Then Yanni, a boutique manager, brought out the main event: Sedna.

It was like the scene in 10.

Instant unrequited love.  Not lust, love.

Now, I've just got to figure out how to make her mine.  Never had a lift this heavy . . . so it might not happen.  But . . .

. . . I'm working on it.

I always liked the Speedy and find the latest generation a great one as well. The Sedna is definitely a very attractive iteration that will be standing as a venerable manual chrono among all chronos. All the best, Alex
