Not sure how it is in another countries but it’s a waitlist piece in mine. And like most of you, well, I just couldn’t be bothered. Besides, I’m not exactly a chrono guy although I did have a speedy at one point and was the only chrono that I really liked.
Anyway, back to the story. My partner just finished buying her stash of cosmetics when I told her that I want to pass by an Omega boutique nearby. It was inside Odakyu in Shinjuku and I did google bought locations the night before. You just know I was on a path for this speedy, no? I didn’t expect to find one really but lo and behold, there was one on display.
Now, did I just say that I wasn’t really a chrono guy? That I had one but moved it on? And that I’ve always liked the speedmaster? Well, the white dial has always intrigued me ever since the Daniel Craig spotting from last year was it? And since I was on the hunt for a white dial watch, this one made it to the top of the list together with the GS snowflake. Good thing the snowflake didn’t have any sort of micro adjust or I would not have made a mission out of looking for a white dial speedy in 🇯🇵
So there it was. I had the sales associate, Takumi-san, take it out so I can try it on. He whips out a couple of Evians and the customary wet wipes and before I knew it, he was already sliding it on my wrist.
Well, what can I say. It was beautiful. And my partner said so herself hahaha!
I whipped out the plastic and told him to check if it works. I mean, of course it works because prior to the trip, I called up my “banker” to let them know I’ll be in Japan on so and so date
Takumi-san comes back smiling as was I hahaha!
Anyway, I did ask him about inventory. He said that they usually stock up in December in preparation for January which I think is their shopping season.
So here it is, my yearender of a watch. Better late than never 🙂
