To commemorate Omega's involvement in this coming Beijing 2008 Olympic, Omega brings the very first Olympic
Exhibition to Singapore from July 10 to 20, 2008 (10:30am to 8:30pm)  at the main atrium of Paragon Shopping Mall
showcasing various timekeeping instrument used over the past 75 years.

This round also marks Omega's 23rd partnership with the Olympics since 1932.
Omega has been committed to the development of sports with continuous technological innovation of sports 
timekeeping and measurement systems.

Omega also collaborates with Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) to sponsor 3 athletes who will represent
Team  Singapore in the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The 3 athletes was presented an Omega timepiece of their choice, by the Minister for Defence and President of SNOC,
Mr. Teo Chee Han. 
They are badminton player Ronald Susilo , shooter Lee Wung Yew and  table tennis player Li Jia Wei.

At about 2:15pm, the guests were coming in.




At the entrance, was greeted by the countdown display panel to the Beijing Olympic.

(L) Anemometer to measure wind assistance before record times are ratified

(R) OMEGA Electric cell (OEC3) from 1969
 


 



OMEGA Photosprint (OPS1) from 1963 with ALPA camera and world's first zoom lens
 









OMEGA Swim-O-Matic  (OSM5) from 1977, incorporating acoustic transducers (pistol shot),  mechanical transducers (touch pads and starting blocks), optical transducers (video) and electronic data processing.

 


OMEGA Starting Block (OSB9 )from 2002 that detect starts or false starts

OMEGA (OCP) touch pads from 1967 that respond to swimmers' touch but not water splashes

 

 


Cyclops photocells (2005) Visitors can try to beat-the-clock by breaking the optical beams with their hands

World's first - 5 sub-counter chronograph wrist watch including 7 days counter in additon to the usual hours - minutes - seconds elapsed and running seconds displays. Unfortunately, this is not a 7-days going mainspring ! smile

Limited edition 1932 style rattrapante (split-seconds) stopwatches in 3 colours of gold (white/yellow/pink). Furthermore,

the pushers and crown tops are finished in the three colours of Olympic medals - gold, silver and bronze.

The Cal 3889A is based on the original movements found in a warehouse that were from the original 1932 Olympics watches.

Hi Looks like a great event. I bet the Omega Museum is pretty empty with all the Vintage Olympic timing devices at the exhibition... Good Hunting Bill Sohne
