Dr No's post offers a rare glimpse into an impromptu gathering of watch enthusiasts, highlighting several exceptional vintage timepieces. This article delves into the unique characteristics of an Omega ref. 2519 and other notable vintage watches, showcasing the depth of knowledge and passion within the collector community. It underscores the enduring appeal of vintage horology and the thrill of discovering rare references.

. . . brought our former Omega forum moderator Bill Sohne out from his home in Brooklyn armed with several vintage watches.

First up is this exceptionally rare Omega ref 2519, ca '53 . . .

. . . that immediately captured my attention.  Not only is 2519 a scarce jumbo reference in its own right, but this particular example has a solid 14 kt pink gold bezel and pink gold-capped lugs.  Most unusual.  I don't recall seeing another quite like it ever.  Cal 333 bumper chronometer in a 36 mm steel case with pink gold trimming . . . it doesn't get better than this for us Omega fans!

. . . Soladiver. Don't see waterproofs often with arrow hands and sub seconds. Way cool!

What an incredibly beautiful looking classic Omega! I like that 67 years ago someone got it SO right: wonderful looks with a great bumper movement. I LOVE, that 67 years later it looks so incredible, and is still obviously loved for its looks and movement. Thank you for sharing, Wojo

. . . is known to all. Fifties model, right, Nico? Sub-seconds auto, gold-filled. Nice!

. . . well, Bill has . . . . . . Omega's version. Capped in pink gold, cal 302 movement. Lugs take a 20 mm strap - enormous considering the size of the case.
