It was another nice day on the water, so I called a watch buddy and asked him and his wife to come on down, cool off, have a few drinks and share watches.

We spread out a towel on the chart table and laid out the watches we’d carried down for our show ’n tell. We had each chosen a “theme” for our own watches. 

But the themes were forgotten when he brought out this week’s score - the new Omega Rio Olympic chronograph. It’s a pretty nice looking watch - catches your eye immediately. 

And quite a hefty chunk of stainless steel too.

His only complaint is that the watch sits high on his wrist, and the colorfully-stitched strap isn’t really beefy enough to hold it tight on his arm.

My theme was blue dials, or blue accents. You can see the Seiko Giugiaro Chrono and the IWC Porsche Design Chronos here, along with his Rolex. There’s something gleaming in the background - can you identify it?

I brought along my old Croton whose brass case and blue strap say "Nautical" to me. There’s a Seiko Samurai ti in the left corner, just below his stealth Perrelet.

Our wives were eating, drinking, talking about the beautiful day and mutual friends. We grabbed another beer, left them to it, and went back to the watches.

You can see there are more blue dial watches in this shot … and I discovered an inadvertent theme of many titanium cases too. Brian brought his newest Breitling as well, on canvas strap which I liked a lot. I think it’s an Avenger with DLC case treatment. It seemed clean and light for a Breitling.

Now to the Perrelet.

The double rotor watch has a secret design visible only when you spin the front rotor. Modesty prevents me from giving you more than a tiny hint.

I think that’s about it, except for his second buy of the week. You see it in the foreground here - a It’s a NOMOS Ahoi Atlantik Datum, which in English means water sport watch with dark dial and a date (very discreet at 6), and a cool woven strap.
