Recently, I was standing outside an Omega Boutique, browsing the window and a guy (aged approximately 45) and his two friends walked up and started a discussion about watches..... “I don’t want a Rolex” he said ... “They’re  for old guys and I’m not 50 yet” ... “Omega is “The” watch to have” ... He then pointed to a new Seamaster 300 and they all agreed that it was a very cool watch.
I found the conversation and the emotion that went with it interesting. My question is, do you think that after many years a shift in brand perception is gently moving in favour of Omega ?

About the Omega Ref. Seamaster300

The Seamaster 300 reference is a re-edition that draws inspiration from Omega's historical dive watches. It is characterized by its robust construction and design elements that pay homage to early professional timepieces, while incorporating modern watchmaking advancements. This reference is positioned as a contemporary interpretation for enthusiasts who appreciate vintage aesthetics combined with current performance standards.

This particular Seamaster 300 features a stainless steel case, typically measuring 41 mm in diameter. It is equipped with an automatic movement, often a Master Co-Axial caliber, providing a substantial power reserve. The watch is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal, contributing to its vintage appearance while offering enhanced scratch resistance. Its construction ensures a high degree of water resistance suitable for aquatic activities.

For collectors, this reference appeals to those seeking a blend of historical design and modern technical specifications. It represents Omega's commitment to its heritage while offering a reliable and well-engineered timepiece. The Seamaster 300 is a significant part of the brand's contemporary collection, offering a distinct alternative to other models within the Seamaster family.

Vintage too (scary as I am not too knowledgable), only have 16610 since 1989 and 1655 now though I don't plan to hold onto long (have had 16700, 16750, 5513 before) Reason? Hm..all my friends talk about is Rolex for 20+ years, it gets very boring to me to the point where anything besides Rolex is more interesting haha! Sorry... I am 48 btw

If there are no waiting list no premium, I think they will swing over to Rolex.. but again, after they bought the Rolex they will for sure look at Omega as second or third watches but eventually they will be wearing their Rolex more often.. hahaha of corse these are just my own humble opinion. I think Omega are cool watches and looks very attractive especially their ever cool adverts.. but don’t know why when I put on Omega Speedmaster series their protruding case back cover make it quite uncomf

The waiting list and premium, but I think this guy was looking at it from a different perspective. Thanks for giving us your opinion.

It has been going on for decades but public perception can change and the conversation was an interesting insight.
