Franco, a seasoned collector, shares the culmination of his multi-year quest to assemble a complete series of Omega Seamaster 300 straight lug references. His dedication to sourcing original components, including rare bezels and crowns, highlights the meticulous nature of vintage watch collecting. This post offers valuable insights into the nuances of these iconic dive watches and the satisfaction of a long-term collecting project.

Hello Guys

this is a project very close to completion.    In the years I have completed the Seamaster 300 twisted lug series (165.024, 166.024,  165.024 Royal Navy, 165.024 in NOS conditions).   That was between 2000 and 2005.

Then I started the Seamaster 300 straight lug series (CK2913, CK14755, CK 165.014).  I found three canonic pieces, all original except two bad bezels and two furniture Omega crowns.

Six years later, I can present you the final product, with ALL ORIGINAL bezels (not Aldo's), and only one furniture crown left to change.

Please note the slight difference of the 2913 back, where the cut-offs for opening the back are shorter.

I am very pleased, these are watches that really make me smile today.

Ciao
Franco

About the Omega Ref. CK2913

The Omega CK 2913 is a significant early example from the brand's professional series, distinguished by its robust construction and focus on specific functional requirements. It represents a foundational piece in a lineage of watches designed for demanding environments, emphasizing legibility and durability. This reference is part of a trio of professional tool watches introduced concurrently, each tailored for different specialized applications, and it stands out for its particular design elements that cater to its intended purpose.

This reference typically features a stainless steel case, designed for resilience. It houses a manual-winding mechanical movement, known for its reliability and precision. The watch is fitted with a durable crystal, contributing to its overall robustness. The case dimensions were chosen to provide a substantial presence on the wrist while maintaining wearability, reflecting the practical considerations of its era.

For collectors, the CK 2913 is a highly sought-after reference due to its historical importance within Omega's catalog of purpose-built timepieces. It appeals to those interested in the development of specialized watches and the evolution of design principles focused on utility. Variations within this reference, particularly concerning dial and hand configurations, are points of interest for enthusiasts, highlighting the subtle distinctions that define its different iterations.

... no lollipop and no inverted numerical scale. Early 2913 had inverted numerical bezel, and lollipop. On this one would have been wrong , because it is a 2913-3 of Aug 1958, too late for those. But ... have all the original bracelets (7077, 7912, 1506 and 1039) with proper endlinks (n.6, n. 516, 506 etc ) Perhaps an early 2913 will come at some stage. Ciao Franco

This is something I had in mind, too. But you did it, when I am still thinking about this project. ;) Just superb, my friend. Will you post the 165 024 trio, too? Best and thanks for the share, it is a real big pleasure, as I am a big fan of the Seamaster ' Thin Bezel ". Nicolas
