HSTE shares an unboxing and initial impressions of the Omega Speedmaster #SpeedyTuesday "Ultraman" edition, highlighting its unique design elements and retro-futuristic packaging. This post delves into the specific features that make this limited edition stand out, from its orange accents to its nod to vintage Speedmaster characteristics.

I did once again what does not happen too often: pick up a contemporary production watch. Having already the first version of the #SpeedyTuesday edition, I was able to get this one and to get it with the same indivitual limited edition number. 2012 of these watches were made and therefore it is - in my opinion - beyond what I would call a limited edition but the fact of it to be "limited" did not play a role for me as I do buy watches to keep them and to wear them. Also, it got sold out in a blip of time so I guess many watch dealers hope to benefit from the LE frenzy.

The main reasons for me to like this "Ultraman" edition: all the orange accents give it a fresh and sporty look. The color of the lume hit in my view the right balance between "aged" and contemporary. Two further characteristics are very well done in this edition which are 1) the return of the step-dial and 2) the retrun of the "dot-over-ninety". And then there is the gimmick of the "Ultramanβ€œ silhouette appearing on the 9 o'clock sub-dial when using UV light. I guess this one requires a bit of fantasy as it looks more like a squashed tomato to me. But it is not a disturbing factor in "daily use".

The watch comes in a retro-futuristic looking super heavy case. On the inside of the case the word "Ultraman" appears when using UV light. And lastly there is a very nicely done tool which is the combination of a strap changing tool and a UV lamp.

All in all a very cool daily wearer.

Cheers, HSTE

I am also discovering first time that Omega etch its logo in the center of the glass, as seen from a few of your close up shots. Enjoy!

Amazing how you were able to get the same number as the speedy tue! Makes it much more special! How do they look and compare side by side?

I know quite some friends who tried badly to log in and order it when it was released. They kept on trying and the system did not allow them to get it. Even more frustrating ... couple of days ago one sold on chrono24 for 11.000 euro pretty annoying if a real collector could not order one because the Omega site could not handle the massive traffic at the moment

The orange accents on the dial are placed in a wise way, without disturb the dial's balance. And what about the reintroduction of the beloved stepped dial? This dial alone worth this watch! How cool is that long orange seconds hand?! Your #8 picture is a great sum that explain the soul of this watch. Thanks for sharing massi
