Ares501 - Mr Green poses a thought-provoking, albeit hypothetical, challenge: if forced to choose only one watch to keep, which would it be? This "Sophie's Choice" scenario transcends typical wrist scans, inviting collectors to delve into the deepest reasons—be they horological, aesthetic, or sentimental—that define their ultimate timepiece, offering a unique window into personal collecting philosophies.

Dear PuristS!

I know that my demand is absurd and sadistic but please indulge me

IF you ever come (hypothetically) in situation when you are absolutely forced

to chose ONLY ONE of timepieces to carry with you

(let's say to another planet after dooms day because laguage is limited to only 1 watch per person LOL)

and leave all others behind which one would it be (with it's full name and surname)

Think that this will give as good oportunity to see whach brand and model is mostly appreciate by each of us

I can bet also that pretty much we all have some idea about that watch for some of our members .... moderators nevertheless

and let it be sick alternative to our friday wrist scan :0)

So to start .... for me this would be

Girard- Perregaux
VINTAGE 1945 KING SIZE QUANTIEME PERPETUEL

P.S. It can also be the one that you don't actually own but would carry for some horological or estetical reason whatsoever

Thanks for participating

Hi If I only had to take one watch, it would have to be to remember what things were like on earth. Because on another planet we probably wouldn't even care about 24 hour days, now would we? So I guess a moonphase would be good for reminiscing about "the old days" and "the old months" but not strictly necessary. I would take the MIH because I would be sure to break my glasses exploring about the new planet, and this would be the only watch I could read. Plus the rubber strap would be resistant t

why would you want a watch keyed to the earth's day?

Possibilities: 1. Mercury: No moonphase, because mercury has no moon; should be a special alloy because temperatures fluctuate between _180 and + 420 °C, some sort of titanium will do. Mercury rotates in 58 days so there will be a lot of numbers on your dial; i suggest 58 mercurian hours(days). 2. Venus: No moonphase too, A feminin watch with diamonds and a pink bracelet. Here there will be a problem because venus rotates around the sun every 225 days, but one day takes 243 earth-days. Think we'

to chose only 1. I'd be so confused that I 'd go nuts if I were you, I'd probably smuggle ALL of them out with only 1 on my wrist : ) I can dream, can't I? ;p

I wrote Simplicity, I was thinking of only bringing my wife's watch, Lange Arkade. It's her favourite watch and it looks so good on her Simple watch for simple man Lovesss*CL
