MTR's acquisition of the Panerai PAM 127 "Fiddy" offers a compelling look into the emotional journey of high-end watch collecting, even for seasoned enthusiasts. His post captures the unique allure of this reference, prompting a discussion on its design nuances and historical significance. This article explores why the "Fiddy" continues to captivate collectors, as articulated by MTR and the WatchProSite community.

Got my 127 this afternoon "after a long time of severe suffering" (the watch was at customs four days before it was delivered to me, God knows why ...).

This is now my third watch purchase after I swore in November last year (after buying my grail watch IWC minute repeater) that I would not buy another watch for the next 1,000 years. 😬

I have now put my Fiddy on my wrist in awe (Ahoi, look: at last a different leather strap! Hahahahaah).

And now I understand why so much fuss is made about the PAM 127 "Fiddy"..

The 127 has flair, has a very special look and wears „differently“ (for me: much more comfortable) than other 47mm Panerais I had in my collection. Is it the lugs? Is it a different shape of the watch case? The strongly arched plexiglass is a dream and contributes a lot to the special appearance of this "legend".

I'm really happy (again). Should I make a new vow regarding watch asceticism?
I do not know. Rather not... 😊

Greetings to all of you and "Thank you" (Grrrrrrrrrr....) for your constant heating up my fire for the (and now my) Fiddy

Some here might disagree. I would say the 127 is one of the best modern Panerai creations. I have learned that the Fiddy is an almost identical replica of the modified 6152/1 with angelus 240 movement. For sure I personally have never seen another Luminor with this charm!! But I still haven't seen some very important Panerai models live either. Best Thomas

Yes, I have to confess, this watch has its own effect that can hardly be described. Almost magical ... How do you do in Italy now? Ciao Thomas

Thanks a lot for your warm and kind words. What´s next? Hmmmhhh... To be on the safe side: no new fasting vows anymore. Hahahahahaha! I have to confess my journey is very emotionally driven. I will know it for sure at the moment when I see the watch. If have only slight doubts and have to ask our highly valued forum members for their opinion whether I should buy a watch or not (I do not mean specifically questions of knowledge or experience!), it is actually "out and over", and I know that this

Yeaaaah! We have the same strap on the 127. I can´t believe my eyes! Although this is without special performance on my part it's like a knighthood for me. Hahahaha!
