About the Panerai Luminor Marina Militare Ref. PAM00036

The Panerai Luminor Marina Militare PAM00036 stands as a significant reference within the brand's contemporary history, directly referencing its deep military heritage. The "Marina Militare" inscription on the dial is a direct nod to the watches supplied to the Royal Italian Navy commandos, a lineage that defines Panerai's identity. Introduced as a special edition, the PAM00036 was part of the early wave of modern Panerai releases that captivated collectors with their robust design and historical narrative, establishing the Luminor as a cornerstone of the brand's portfolio.

Technically, the PAM00036 is distinguished by its 44mm titanium Luminor case, offering a lighter yet equally durable alternative to steel, a practical consideration for its intended utilitarian aesthetic. The iconic crown-protecting device ensures water resistance and protects the crown from impacts. Its black sandwich dial, featuring luminous hour markers and the distinctive small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, provides exceptional legibility, a hallmark of Panerai's design philosophy. Powering this model is the manual-wind Panerai OP II caliber, based on the robust ETA 6497/2, a movement choice that further connects it to the brand's historical reliance on reliable, hand-wound calibers.

As a limited edition of only 200 pieces, the Panerai PAM00036 holds a particularly strong position in the collector's market. Its scarcity, combined with the direct historical reference of the "Marina Militare" dial and the use of titanium, makes it a highly sought-after piece for enthusiasts. It represents a pivotal moment in Panerai's re-establishment as a luxury watchmaker, appealing to those who appreciate both the brand's military roots and the distinctive, oversized aesthetic that has become synonymous with Panerai. Its collectibility is further enhanced by its status as an early and authentic interpretation of the brand's heritage.

One of my favourite places in the world....Bangkok.

A weekend or a long weekend, were enough for me to "regenerate". I used to fly to BKK once or twice a month, while living in Singapore. Golfing was great and rather cheap (coming from Singapore) loved the food and the little...razzamattaz, after a nice dinner with friends?
