My dear friends,

Most of you know me as a true Vacheron addict and Blancpain admirer.

I’ve often looked at Panerai but every time dismissed the opportunity in favor of watches I liked better.

The reason was quit straight forward: the models that I liked where simply to big and chunky for me to wear comfortable. The smaller models were not that appealing to me; either to plain or to

That all changed earlier this year when Panerai released the Radiomir Mediterrano boutique only models. Either in steel at 42 mm and manual wind, or titanium 44 mm automatic.

The smaller steel version ref PAM 01144) was just -effect for me. Gorgeous blue dial, not to big, not to thick. Two beautiful blue straps came with it. Plus selected 2 brown colored straps as well.

I just loved it. I realize that some (perhaps even many) of the so-called true paneristi might consider this one not a real Panerai (like many Porsche fans belief anything that on;y the camera 911 is a real,Porsche). But this is a Panerai I will actually wear and will wear a lot.

My wife was then so friendly to call the boutique to buy the watch for me. However since we were separated due to lockdown I waited with unboxing until we had the whole family together again.

Finally must mention that the service in the Dubai Mall boutique has been absolutely top from A to Z.

So with some delay, here she is

About the Porsche Ref. 911

The Porsche Design Chronograph I, reference 911, represents a significant early offering from the brand, establishing its design philosophy in the watchmaking world. This model is notable for its minimalist aesthetic and functional approach, reflecting the brand's automotive heritage through its focus on legibility and material choice. It was conceived as a tool watch, prioritizing clarity and durability over ornate decoration, a characteristic that set it apart from many contemporaries upon its introduction.

Crafted with a black PVD-coated stainless steel case, the Chronograph I features a distinctive monochromatic appearance. The case diameter measures 40mm, providing a substantial yet wearable presence on the wrist. It houses an automatic movement, specifically the Valjoux 7750, known for its robustness and reliability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring scratch resistance, and offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

This reference holds particular appeal for collectors interested in the origins of Porsche Design's horological ventures and the broader trend of black-cased watches. Its straightforward design and mechanical integrity make it a compelling choice for those who appreciate a blend of automotive-inspired engineering and practical watchmaking. The 911 reference is a foundational piece, illustrating the brand's initial vision for a performance-oriented timepiece.

Do you have already the first pics for us (above all on the wrist)? Strange: when I open your post, there is no picture. Just in the "closed modus" you see the Panerai bag... I wish you a nice honeymoon!! Best Thomas

Your photos are not showing... In the Ø42mm or bigger they all look very nice, I like the case and the crown too, of course the manual-wind 3 days power reserve seals it and makes it even more desirable. I say you have a good, no beautiful watch, a nice wink to the historical huge 6152 without protecting crown or the 6154 Lucky you, enjoy
