Sc16 shares highlights from his recent holiday, showcasing several intriguing watches he encountered, including a Patek Philippe 5960/1A, a Seiko SBG069, and an Omega Speedmaster 60th anniversary. His post reflects on the serendipitous nature of finding discontinued or sought-after pieces in boutiques and the personal contemplation involved in luxury watch acquisitions.
Firstly, my apologies for my absence.
I have been reading and following the forum throughout, but it was a bit busy with work, upon which my vacation came up which was enjoyable but busy as well. Back from the recharging station, I had every intention to post my below experiences from my holiday, but then some personal matters unfortunately intervened. However, all is well and still busy, but otherwise I will never be able to post.
I consider it my luck to come across pieces in AD or boutiques that should be sold out and/or discontinued.
Case in point – the PP 5960/1A
I was just walking by and tadaaa, it was in the shop window. I love this watch, but at the same time unfortunate not being able to buy it due to lack of riches – if only.....

Seiko SBG069
This one I am still contemplating – it’s an expensive Seiko; recently i saw some discussions going on about Seiko and Grand Seiko with interesting perspectives.

Omega Speedmaster 60th anniversary
Here a bit of cheating though – I contacted the dealer last year in November, and he mentioned he may get another piece as the pieces he had were all sold. In January, I received an email that he had received it and it would be waiting for me to be viewed on my next trip. Mind you, I had not seen it on the wrist yet and I have this thing that I must first see a watch on my wrist. I have to applaud the patience of the AD and my contact person in this case (i was a potential new customer) and the fact they kept it aside for so long – very minor deposit paid.
So finally this past July, I was able to visit the AD on the last day of my vacation and once I wore it, I actually wanted it.

Now, I had already prepared my partner aka CFO that this could be a potential purchase and she gave the green light – needless to say, I pulled the trigger and very happy with it.
During my holiday also visited the Hublot boutique as I know the current boutique manager whom I did not visit last year.
He showed me some pieces, but unfortunately did not have the Sang Bleu (which I like from pics). Somehow, I like the smaller simpler piece better.
Apologies as I don’t know the references.

I will post my experiences with the Omega in the respective sub-forum.
HAGWE!
Kind regards,
Sc16
Always good to have an understanding CFO, I count my blessings for mine. Handsome Omega, I love the colors. Best regards, Wojo
Yes, it is very helpful...and it also provides good restraints otherwise I would have gone overboard over the past years.
I have always liked that Patek. I wish they made that configuration as a Perpetual Calendar. The bracelet is Very winning. Thanks for sharing!
5960/1A is worth of sacrafices. I am sure it will be just like 1976 Nautilus - a future classic. Furthermore, it is really a great watch on the wrist. I wear mine just now. Like most of the days of the year. Best Kari
In my possession. I know.. I know, it’s because of you i went the 1st time to check it out prior it to be discontinued. It’s been haunting me ever since. This will likely go in the history books as the one that i will regret not being able to buy it. Kr, Sc16
plus power reserve indicator plus day/night indicator. Perfect size and incredibly readable. A real winner in my books and easily beats one kidney. Best, Kari
