I have to admit to being a little shell-shocked after the "shock & awe" of the Piaget Couture Précieuse Collection. The technique and aesthetic quality of haute horlogerie is breath taking. This is real watchmaking using the complete range of the watchmaking arts of movement manufacture, decoration and adornment.
As I demonstrated in a previous posting, Piaget quartz movements are manufactured from metal like their mechanical counterparts. The plates, wheels, gears, pinions, pivots, stems etc. are decorated in the same way. The only difference are the batteries and quartz "escapements" that replace the mainspring and balance wheel of mechanical movements for power and time regulation.
I believe that the use of the best contemporary movement technology available, encased within in-house cases with in-house, hand-crafted bracelets and in-house gem-set decoration raise the integrated House of Piaget to the top echelon of True Manufactures.

Yes; they added jewelry techniques to their watchmaking skills but Messrs Berthoud and
