KIH introduces the Pita Barcelona STEAM, a remarkable timepiece from independent watchmaker Aniceto Jimenez Pita, coinciding with CEO Daniel Jimenez's move to Japan. This post offers a hands-on look at the watch's innovative features, including its crown-less design, extreme water resistance, and unique magnetic time-setting mechanism.

Guess what?  CEO/ Co-Founder of Pita Barcelona soon will be living in Japan.  Why?  Because he has just got married to a wonderful/ beautiful Japanese lady smile  I met them the other day (briefly) and Daniel Jimenez showed me "Steam", which he is going to bring to Doha for the watch fair.

This was the first encounter with Aniceto Jimenez Pita in Tokyo:

At that time, Daniel was there, too, but maybe taking a break and I missed him and his wife-to-be back then.

Now I have seen and handled Steam and Daniel explained to me how great it was.

Evening meeting at a cafe bar.

Daniel.

43mm, 14m thickness.
Water resistant to 2000m (!)
Oceana was for 5000m but it is "too diver", so they made one which can be used for business or office and you can jump into the water anytime.
(note: the strap must be replaced with water resistant one - this one is just for the show)

Three-part case.  Bronze-Aluminum and...

Titanium (center part, which is really the tip of the "iceberg" which actually covers or sandwiches the movement "box" to protect from the water).

Anyway, there is no crown.  Rotate the case back and adjust the time.

The "glass" is acrylic polycarbonate.  Bezel rotate counter-clockwise.

And there are magnets inside (!!!), with focused magnetic field and ample shields to protect the movement.  Why?  It is called "remote transmission", which makes it possible for the time or hands to be adjusted by rotating the case-back while it does not touch the hands or hands related gears - one of the many ways to make super water resistance, I guess.  I may be wrong as we did not have much time to discuss more in the quiet place.  I will correct, if anything is incorrect here.
Anyway, visit here and you will have more accurate information:
www.pita.es
There is no gasket, and there is no "weak" point, it seems.  No servicing for a long time, they say.  Truly bang for the buck smile)

Anyway, it is so surprising that they make it at such a price point with great innovation inside, and you can customize it as you wish (but takes a bit of time and maybe money, too).

Hope to show you more from Tokyo as Daniel will be around here going forward (of course he will go back and forth between Barcelona and here).

Thanks, Daniel and good luck at the Doha show!

Ken

Never see none in the flesh yet but every time I see them written about or just pictures of the watches, am quite impressed. Let's see if a visit to Barcelona is on the cards soon, so I can actually see some live, finally

... and water resistant to 2000m. That is innovative and creative.

I'm a huge fan of PITA watches and love what they are doing, not surprised he is moving to Japan with his wife, it is a wonderful country and with Italy my favorite country to visit. Thanks for sharing your meeting. S

The star (?) shaped second hand colored red, yellow and blue is a depth meter. Yes, indeed a depth meter. The colors - red isn\'t visible anymore after 5 mtr depth - yellow isn\'t visible anymore after 50 mtr depth - blue isn\'t visible anymore after 250 mtr depth (although graphics differ) So the watch also tells you how deep you are (desk)diving. Simple. But cool.
