amanico (Nicolas) delves into the horological choices of Roger Moore's iconic character, Simon Templar, in 'The Saint' TV series. Beyond the famous Volvo P1800, Nicolas uncovers the specific Bulova and Omega watches worn by Templar, offering a fascinating look at how watches contributed to the character's style and drawing parallels to other cinematic watch trends.
We all know what was The Saint's Car in the eponymous TV Series.
Roger Moore, aka Simon Templar, aka The Saint drove a Volvo P 1800.
This association did a lot to make the swedish brand, and specially this car, more famous.
But what we less know is what kind of watch(es ) he wore during during this Saga.
In fact, he wore two watches, as far as I know.
The one he most often wore was this Bulova:
But there was another one, which appeared later in the Saga, an... Omega, a very dressy and simple one, on which he mounted a... Nato strap!
It is pretty funny to see such a combination, don't you think?
It is also interesting to see that a certain James Bond, played by Sean Connery, launched a trend with Nato straps ( he wore a Rolex 6538 on a Nato, indeed. )
Now that I have the car, I know what kind of watches to hunt, to do the historical duo... And to look like... The Saint!
Best,
Nicolas.
