In this insightful post, rnaden shares his enduring appreciation for a discontinued modern Rolex, highlighting its wearability and classic proportions. His personal preference for the 40mm case with slimmer lugs and hands over newer, larger iterations sparks a discussion on design evolution and the enduring appeal of certain references. This piece offers valuable perspective for collectors considering the nuances of Rolex's modern history.

Not in production anymore for almost a decade, but still a very nice Rolex to wear. Nice size, great case profile and wears very nice on top of being versatile.

I prefer this older 40mm case with slimmer lugs and slimmer hands compared to the newer 42mm and fat hands. Itโ€™s a personal opinion as the new size doesnโ€™t sit on small wrists very well.

The rotor had come off some years back and I was too lazy to take it to the spa, so for a good number of years I was still winding it manually and it would run flawlessly, just without the "perpetual" part. That's the one thing with Rolex movements, it does literally take a beating and keep going.
