One day just one watch's post highlights the increasing difficulty of acquiring steel Rolex sports models, prompting a shift in focus to full gold Rolex Day-Date models. The author seeks community input on selecting between various Day-Date 40 configurations, sparking a lively discussion on aesthetics, movements, and market trends.

Today I visited our local AD and they just received a shipment from Rolex. But whatever steel models they had received, they were all sold within a couple of hours and when I walked in to the store it was packed. They only had a tow tone skydweller, a white gold submariner and a explorer I. Now that it has become impossible to buy a steel sports model from Rolex I have started looking at full gold Rolex models. I used to have a white gold Day Date II with the black arabic dial but I sold it to get funds for another watch. But the Day Date in 40 mm looks much more balanced. So I am thinking about buying one. But which one? I like them all (see picture), but i can only afford one. Which one should it be. Your input is much appreciated!

she would leave me if i would choose the yellow one. She prefers the white gold version and i am leaning towards the yellow gold. Maybe a compromise and go for the everose...

I'll start by saying I dislike roman numerals, so none of the ones offered... These are readily available, so would step back, configure the one you want and then order accordingly. I have a white gold Rolex, but some buyers want everyone to know their watch is gold, which isn't always the case in white gold. I appreciate the DD is only available in precious metal, but depends on your own opinion. The DD40 looks the nuts in any gold configuration, but I prefer the yellow gold and one day expect
