In this classic WatchProSite thread, 1WatchMan shares his unexpected enchantment with a Rolex Day-Date 40 in white gold with an olive green dial, a piece he encountered just before lockdown. His post sparks a compelling discussion comparing this luxurious reference against the more accessible Datejust 41, prompting collectors to weigh in on value, wearability, and the intangible 'wow' factor. This article distills the community's insights, offering a timeless perspective on choosing between two iconic Rolex models.

The Datejust 41 will be easier to live with if you use it on a daily basis (steel). The Day-Date is more expensive because of the extra complication and the White Gold case. I do like the subtle green dial colour. Happy Easter !
...or rather almost - I tried the RG Daydate not the WG - I have a slight, but only very slight, preference for the Wimbledon as I felt it has 90% of the look and feel but I would be mush more comfortable wearing due to it being steel and I feel likely more durable. And itβs on my shortlist for sure! Either would be great. So looking forward to hearing which you go for All the very best, Niall
Iβve tried one with purple dial.
The combination of white gold and olive green dial is amazing. Here is mine: Of course the watch is pretty heavy but it nevertheless wears comfortably due to the good proportions (better in my opinion than the DJ 41) and the smooth President's bracelet.
Their recent DD- fume dials change the game a bit, though.
One of my all time favourite watch with or without the President bracelet.. π
