It was presented in Basel 2013, and was discontinued in 2019. Produced for about six years in very few pieces.  Some collectors say, that they have made about 500 pieces  worldwide. It’s strap is made from the finest skins of the Mississippiensis alligator, leather that in the future Rolex will no longer use. Have you ever seen a Rolex greener than this?

About the Rolex Day Date Ref. 118138

The Rolex Day-Date ref. 118138 is a distinguished variant within the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date collection, characterized by its 18k yellow gold construction and a vibrant green dial. This reference was introduced in 2013 and remained in production until 2019, offering a distinct aesthetic within the Day-Date lineage, which is traditionally associated with more conservative dial colors.

This model features a 36mm Oyster case, a fluted bezel, and is fitted with a green alligator leather strap secured by an 18k yellow gold folding clasp. It is powered by Rolex's Caliber 3155, an automatic mechanical movement known for its precision, featuring a instantaneous day and date display with rapid setting. The movement is a certified Swiss chronometer.

For collectors, the ref. 118138 is notable for its relatively short production run and the specific combination of yellow gold with a green dial and matching alligator strap. The use of Mississippiensis alligator leather, as highlighted by collectors, adds a particular material characteristic that may differentiate it from later Rolex models. Its distinctive colorway makes it a recognizable piece within modern Rolex production.

Its the kind of watch you either love or hate. I’m definitely in the love section. It radiates self confidence, it radiates success power and a little bit confrontational. Yet all well within the limits of acceptable. The deep dark green strap is a classic great combination with the gold case. Congrats Only 500 you said? That would/should push values

How is anyone to know that only 500 were made? How were they able to arrive at this guesstimate?
