BigAppleBill's recent acquisition, a Rolex Day-Date with a sodalite dial, highlights how certain watches transcend their photographic representation, revealing their true allure only in person. His post underscores the unique appeal of stone dials, particularly how the sodalite's royal blue hue interacts with different attire. This piece explores the captivating aesthetics that made BigAppleBill unable to resist this particular timepiece.

There are some very cool Daytona dials out there. Even more for the Day Dates. I was just getting into the stone dials several years ago when the market for them took off (thanks to Philips and some others). Ultimately I was too slow or didn’t have enough conviction.
