Clueless_Collector shares his excitement over acquiring a new Rolex Daytona 116520, marking his second Rolex and celebrating the holiday season. His post offers a personal, hands-on perspective on this iconic reference, highlighting its comfort, accuracy, and the significance of its in-house Caliber 4130 movement. This provides a relatable collector's experience for those considering or admiring the modern Daytona.

Rolex box color is well thought for the holiday season smile) And what a timing coincidence for the other renewed post about Rolexmania. That was a great post about Daytona 16520 and its influence.

I am happy with my new SS Daytona 116520, though I agree the dial and sub-rings are very shiny and at times difficult to read, it is still a handsome and versatile watch.

This watch need no further review, so I'll leave it to the Pros, but I feel it wears smaller han 40mm, light, comfortable, and I already can tell it's very well made, accurate even with the chrono running 12 hrs without wearing.

The clasp design is superb, and center polished links, I can wear them till they become seasoned, so no problem smile)

2nd Rolex, though not legendary as the 62xx, PNs and 16520, but it will always be remembered as 1st Daytona with Rolex's in-house movement 4130.

Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays to all!

About the Rolex Ref. 16520

The Rolex Cellini reference 16520 is a notable example of the brand's dress watch offerings, distinct from its more robust sport models. This particular reference represents a period where Rolex explored more refined and understated designs, catering to a clientele seeking a timepiece suitable for formal occasions. It stands as a testament to Rolex's versatility in watchmaking, showcasing a different facet of their design philosophy compared to their Oyster Perpetual line.

This reference features a case crafted from stainless steel, measuring 40mm in diameter. It is equipped with an automatic movement, specifically the Caliber 4030, which is based on the Zenith El Primero. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the watch is rated for a water resistance of 100 meters. The fixed tachymeter bezel is a characteristic feature.

For collectors, the reference 16520 appeals to those interested in the evolution of Rolex's dress watch designs and their use of external base movements. Its production run from 1988 to 2000 places it within a specific era of Rolex manufacturing. The black dial and Oyster bracelet contribute to its overall aesthetic, making it a recognizable piece within the Cellini collection.

Well, you can't have them all at the same time... And even if you could, what would be the fun in that?! Enjoy your new baby - who knows, maybe you will find room for a Vintage 1945 next year after all...! ;) Best Blomman
