Penfriend's thoughtful gesture of securing two Rolex Daytonas for his sons' future milestones offers a unique perspective on modern watch acquisition and intergenerational gifting. His post not only showcases the highly sought-after steel Daytona in both black and white dial configurations but also sparks a discussion on dial preference and legibility, a perennial debate among collectors. This article delves into the community's insights on these iconic chronographs.

For me, the white. Simply because most watches have black dial so the white is a nice change up. Both are great
but with the black bezel it looks really cool....
...I chose it because I thought it was more legible. I have an old Submariner and can read the black dial fine, but it is time-only (small date window) and doesn't have chronograph sub-dials... Was going to buy another one for my other son but he declared himself not a Rolex fan, so the search continues : )
I'm with you in the black dial, to me it looks better.
I hope that your sons don't both prefer the white or both prefer the black!
wich would leave me with two Daytonas, which is not the worst ;-)
