Have always liked the Explorer I, but now Rolex truly got it right. 40mm, shiny dial, the word Explorer up top, the length of the indexes, the lume in the 3-6-9, the subtle curve of the case… simple and perfect.

I guess I should have said perfect modern explorer. The vintage ones you’ve shown us lately are quite special.

I think they made a trick of the eye adjustment by increasing the size of the bezel. It pushes all the elements to the center to create a compact look that’s similar to the 36. But not enough to part with my 39. It has its own quirky charm
