Echi's acquisition of the Rolex Explorer sparks a conversation about the ideal travel companion for photographers. His post delves into the nuanced requirements for a watch that blends robustness with a sense of occasion, a challenge many collectors face when balancing practicality with horological passion. This article explores why the Explorer, often seen as a quintessential tool watch, stands out in a crowded field of luxury sports watches.

Great watch and yes if it’s on the list it has to be done ; )
The rodium and blue dialed YM, are not only un Rolex, it looking very attractive.
One of the classical watches that fits well in every occasion.
I think this would be one of the contenders for a Only One Watch collection. This or the 15202 for me!
Not because i could afford either of them (i can’t) but more along the lines of a sports watch that you can daily wear, thin enough that it doesnt hamper movement but not too thin that it loses that sporty look, one that’s robust enough to take a few knocks and dips in the pool, and, lastly, one that has a bit of history attached to it. While the explorer isnt exactly one that i would classify as a luxury sports watch, it can almost wedge itself into that category. I was thinking an old Defender
Enjoy the hell out of it!
