Welcome in the wonderful Pan Am World!

The box and the papers are one thing: You are lucky if you got your 6542 or early 1675 in its complete ( or almost ) configuration, like it was sold by the original AD.

But even if you have the complete set, when it comes to the Vintage Rolex GMT, you can dive deeper into madness / pleasure, with some Pan Am goodies.

After all, in Part One, we demonstrated that the link between the Pan Am and Rolex was very close:

rolex.watchprosite.com

In this world, you have a huge variety of goodies, all very enjoyable, such as the ash trays, lighters, knives, playing cards, maps, ads, time tables, dictionary, wings pins, QSL radio cards, bags, mugs, luggage tags, and so many others that it would be impossible to name them, and very difficult to make a selection among them.

A possible link is to focus on the Vintage GMTs you have, and try to find the correct stuff from the correct era, being precised that if you get, let' s say, a 6542 from 1956, you can go for goodies of the same year and later, if you have a demanding approach in this project.

But you can also hunt some earlier goodies: A Captain could have bought a lighter in 1952 and still use it in 1958 when he bought his 6542, don't you think? It is not incoherent at all.

That is what I did, here.

I hunted goodies for my 3 older GMTs, the 6542 from 1958, the 1675 Brown Gilt Dial from 1961, and the 1675 Gilt " David Bowie " from 1966.

Of course, what I am showing you here is representing my first steps into this project, and I will try to complement this thema all along the years.

Let's start slowly, with the " Goodies Bag ".

It is not only a cool bag, it will allow you to put all your Pan Am Goodies inside, and avoid to hear you wife complaining that your new little game is causing some serious disorder in the house.

wink

The time table: Indispensable for the frequent traveler, because the GMT is not only a Captain's watch, but a traveler's tool, too.

Here is one from late 1951, 1952, a bit too early for my purpose, but at least we have the pleasure to see an old Pan Am Logo, the famous stylized " PAA " with the Earth below.

Will have to find a later one, from 1955 / 1960 for my 6542, and even later for my Argentinan 1675, but it goes very well with the spirit of an old GMT, in my opnion:

Another very interesting goodie is this ad for the Brussels Universal Exhibition, in 1958, matching exactly with my 6542, but also with my JLC Geophysic.

Now, something I recently discovered, the QSL Radio Cards, an universe in itis kind, made of travels, relations between humans, adventure, and sometimes, witness of their time.

On this one, from 1958, you will see the famous Boeing 707, a superb plane released at the same time than the ... 6542, which both are brothers in technilogy, on a certain way.

Ok, that is all for the documents, let's now see what kind of toys I found for my beloved Vintage GMTs...

- A lighter for my Argentinan 1675:

- With a knife and a Wings Pin:

A lighter and a knife which could also be used with this sensual 1675 " Grey Bezel ":

- Another lighter for my 6542 ( shared with the 1675 from 1961 ) :

A knife for the 6542, but it will also work for my early 1675:

The knife and the lighter together:

A luggage tag for my early 1675:

And, to end in beauty, the full Monthy, errrrr, package:

You will have a lot of pleasure in exploring this magic universe, for sure.

An universe made of nostalgy, humour, poetry sometimes, adventure, dream and evasion always.

With two big advantages:

- It helps you to wake the child who sleeps in you up.

- It won't oblige you to sell your house to fund these goodies: For example, all the accessories I found cost much less than a Rolex Bracelet.

The only issue is that you may want to go deeper in this madness, to find more goodies, which will make you love even more your Rolex GMTs...

A kind of vicious circle, but a delicious one, I think.

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best.

About the Rolex GMT Ref. 1675

The GMT-Master reference 1675 is a significant model in the brand's history, representing an evolution from earlier GMT-Master references. It was produced for an extended period, allowing for numerous dial, bezel, and hand variations throughout its production run. This reference is notable for its introduction of crown guards, enhancing the watch's robustness and contributing to its distinct profile. It solidified the GMT-Master's design language, which would influence subsequent generations.

This reference features a 40mm case, available in stainless steel, yellow gold, or a two-tone combination of steel and yellow gold. It is powered by the automatic Caliber 1575, a chronometer-certified movement known for its reliability and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The watch is fitted with an acrylic crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The bidirectional rotating bezel, typically with an aluminum insert, displays a 24-hour scale.

For collectors, the 1675 is highly sought after due to its long production period and the resulting variety of configurations, including different dial types (gilt, matte), hand styles, and bezel colors (Pepsi, all-red, all-black). Its four-digit reference number and acrylic crystal are key characteristics that define it as a vintage Rolex. The reference appeals to those interested in the historical development of the GMT-Master line and the nuances of vintage watch collecting.

Thank you Nicolas for this interesting unusual post. I think Damjan is right: price of goodies will jump for sure! As for me I would be satisfied with any of the 4 sets of goodies of your first pic (not necessarily the bags, with or without uniforms, LOL !). Thanks again Nico, Mike

There are a few more goodies to get, such as the mug, the commandant's cap, the plane ( Boeing 707 ), and so on. So the hunt may go on a bit. Thanks for looking, Mike! Nicolas
