Since two weeks, I have opportunity to carry a Milgauss 116400 white dial.

A watch loading the very last Rolex technologies, the calibre 3131 with spiral Panachrom, the soft iron box, the new bracelet with EsayLink. It made a lot speak surplus of her at its exit, too big, too bright, everything, not enough Rolex for some. I find it in well accomplished finale, the bright box does not shock and in its entirety, it is definitely Rolex. It imposes when you put down his look over but it's a big comfort in the wrist.

Check, it is very nice to speak about the new one but since I have one of my friends who is the happy one-1019-old landlord (thanks to him for the time beingwink), grey face, I said that a comparison was good means to see if 116400 holds the road in comparison with its famous mother.

To come back, on 1019 rear, it is the second evolution of Milgauss, dating the sixties. The first one being 6541, which 116400 takes back the brief needle:

Sorry for the Copyright ???

They all know curiosity and mad price of this on 1019, a watch which did not know a big success commercial with regard to the seriousness of the technical capacity (high resistance to magnetic fields).

The pics:

First, the 1019

An Oyster case in 38mm, nice needles H+M and a second right, not as 116400. The face is also very legible and simple, big index, black / dark green made darker tritium.

The young girl next to ancient. The building of the face of 116400 comparatively complies with the original, big index, simple switch, there are only funky colours and the second which change.

Side box, they find the brillante bezel for the two model, it to bother so present on the ancient as on the modern.

The crown of the 1019 is identical to DateJust of the same epoch, on 116400, Rolex took up a crown of nice size, more join with the thickness of the shoulders (she seems besides bigger than that of new DateJust in 41mm).

Small illustration of the evolution of the shoulders, as says more high, crowns of 116400 made proportional well.

On 1019 goes up on a simple FlipLock, it seems to me that the original is folded (the owner of the Milgauss, if you read me???).

We can see the evolution definitely, I would say jump even ahead of Rolex on bracelets. They also point out the more imposing breadth of the bottom of on 1019.

Both shoulders, it is big the last.

The two face to face, they can note that mind is always there.

Two wirstshots:

And a DoubleWirstshot:

Then, this 116400, Milgauss or not Milgauss?

It took time for me to appreciate this model, being Vintage or Modern, but YES, I do love it. I have a light preference for the Vintage, for its more reasonnable proportions, the plexy, and the more sober dial ( silver or black, it doesn't matter, to me ). But, on the other hand, the Milgauss is the last modern Rolex I love ( with the Ceramic bezel of the new GMT Version ). In both cases, they are powerful and quite simple watches. The Milgauss Glace Verte ( G.V ) is a crazy watch, very funny an

This was a great side-by-side comparison of the vintage and new Milgauss. I like the white dial modern Milgauss best of the current offerings. All the watches you present are lovely! Thanks for the thoughtful article. Cheers, Daos

Terrific post. A small sore point I've had with Rolex models is the clasps on their bracelets. Some of your pictures do show both bracelets but not with the clasps open. I'm particularly interested in the clasp on the newer Milgauss model: how do you feel it compares to the original?

On the 1019, there is a simple old style buckle. On the new Milgauss, Rolex create a new one, really more technical : sorry for the pics, from my cell ;-) First, the buckle open, at the right, the clap for open it. The clap The buckle open, on the left the EasyLink (made for more confort when you are in summer...) And the EasyLink open It's a revolution for Rolex ;-)
