In this insightful post, @lberti shares his enthusiasm for the Rolex Milgauss GV, detailing the specific design elements and unique features that make this reference stand out in his collection. His detailed breakdown of the 'Blitz' seconds hand, numbered indexes, and anti-magnetic properties offers a compelling perspective on why this 'weird Rolex' holds a special place among collectors. This article explores @lberti's initial impressions and the community's shared appreciation for this distinctive timepiece.

I always liked the MILGAUSS, especially because of the THE BLITZ, numbered indexes and the colors used. And of course the ability to withstand a thousand gauss and the unique inner case design (two case back, the inner being in soft iron and another one under the dial). Crazy, i know smile
My favorite of the modern MILGAUSS has always been the green glass, the "GV". The white one has been discontinued and was too white for my tast anyway. The blue one i really never liked and of course the black one with the white glass, which i thought a bit too simple. So glass verte, ticks the boxes for being the right choice for me:
  • It has an orange Blitz: Check!
  • Black dial with white and orange indexes as well as Air King like numberings: Check!
  • 40mm: Check!
  • Hard case and soft case in the back, another soft layer under the dial to withstand: Check! (Important in this highly magnetized world)
  • Weird Rolex: Check! (My favorite check!)
smile

I would love to hear your thoughts on this piece or do you prefer another iterations of this cool watch? Please dont say the CERN one!!!! I know, i get it, i want that too smile

Cheers

I had the black dial one and I did not feel it was boring but then again I like very classic watches I am currently rolling with an Oyster 39 black, even more austere!

Your second picture shows perfectly the great reflection of the green glass!

But how hard it is to take a decent picture of it, between its green glass and the polished bezel which catches all the reflections! Enjoy yours, Alberti, it is a very funny one. Best, Nicolas

Owned one and love the design, but the weight proportions never worked for my wrist. Congrats though!!!
