Tony, known as aperna on WatchProSite, shares his recent acquisition of a highly sought-after Rolex Daytona, sparking community discussion about the current market and the watch's subtle design updates. His experience offers a timely glimpse into the dynamics of acquiring popular references through authorized dealers and whether the market for such pieces is indeed 'loosening up.'

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 126500 represents a significant evolution within the brand's chronograph collection, introduced as part of the updated Daytona series. This reference maintains the established aesthetic of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona while incorporating technical refinements. It is distinguished by its Oystersteel construction and ceramic bezel, a combination that has become a hallmark of contemporary Daytona models. The watch is designed for precision timing and robust daily wear, appealing to collectors who value both performance and durability in a sport chronograph.
This model features a 40mm Oystersteel case, housing the automatic Caliber 4131 movement. This movement provides a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it suitable for various activities. The fixed bezel is crafted from ceramic, offering enhanced scratch resistance compared to previous metal bezels.
The 126500 is a highly sought-after reference, particularly in its white dial configuration, often referred to by collectors as the "Panda" dial. It appeals to collectors seeking the latest iteration of the steel Daytona, which integrates modern manufacturing techniques and movement enhancements while retaining the classic design elements that define the model line. The subtle updates to the case profile and dial details distinguish it from its predecessors, making it a notable addition to any collection.
Compliments to your friendly AD offering you this wonderful watch. Enjoy it so much and in the best of good health my dear friend. Cheers! Abel
I own a 126500 though mine has a white dial. It was hard to me to decide between black or white dials because I love both but the decision finally came when the owner of the watch store phoned me telling that only a white was available. Let’s keep enjoying our Daytonas dear Tony! Cheers! Abel PS: By coincidence I’m wearing mine since Sunday night.
