The Wellingtonian shares their initial impressions of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Celebration dial, a timepiece that has sparked considerable debate among collectors. Their experience highlights a common phenomenon in horology: a watch's true appeal often only reveals itself when seen in person. This article explores The Wellingtonian's journey from skepticism to admiration, offering a valuable perspective on a polarizing reference.

Thought it is funny yet fitting the dial is at home with the fruit plate and the Gunners red in the background!

I see the opinion is firmly divided on the OP Celebration dial.  I was very much on the fence when the announcement was made. However the minute I saw the dial in flesh at the AD, I was hooked. Looks much better in real life and so much fun to wear. A few of my mates and colleagues who are not at all into watches have complimented me! One of my favourites!

Has anyone seen the ā€œpuzzleā€ dial either in WG or RG? Now that would be something! Unfortunately for me, given those two are out of catalogue, I don’t think I’d be able to see one let alone wearing.

It must be like you say, it needs to be seen in the metal…like so many other watches, your opinion changes in person.

Look forward to interacting in the forum. Such a huge collection of Rolexes in one forum. This was a Singapore airline flight BTW.

You got to see them in the metal and try on before forming an opinion I’d say. It doesn’t wear ā€œbigā€ for a 41mm dial either.
