Jay (Eire) explores the unique appeal of white gold in his Rolex Day-Date 36, a material he rarely collects. His post delves into the tactile experience of its weight and the visual impact of the iconic President bracelet, offering a personal perspective on why this particular timepiece stands out in his collection. This discussion provides valuable insights for collectors considering the subtle luxury of white gold.

White gold.  I do not own many white gold watches, in fact (unless I’m forgetting something) this is one of only two I own or have ever owned.

With the bracelet, the iconic President, there’s plenty of weight in this 36mm package to give one that heft on the wrist that is sometimes appealing.  Admittedly in recent years I’ve leaned much more towards lightness on the wrist with several bracelet watches I own.

I aspire to own another one some day. But one less precious, a true every day DD.

I’ve mentioned here before that I’m generally not a fan of roman numerals on watch dials as nine times out of ten I feel they give the watch too much of a “dated”vibe. But here, it works for me. And I think it’s the fact that the numerals are printed not applied. Thanks for looking.

Love that dial colour

The bracelet adds some heft, and visually makes it wear a little larger than the diameter would suggest. I have a few other 36mm Rolex but this one is the star for sure.

Wear it in good health.
