Decksurgeon presents a compelling case for the Rolex Submariner Ref. 116610LV as essential adventure gear, highlighting its robust design and reliability. His post goes beyond a mere review, contextualizing the watch within a diver's critical equipment and sharing personal insights into its real-world performance.

There are numerous threads/posts/websites dedicated to the Rolex Submariner. May I present humbly the 116610LV equipped with the famed ceramic bezel. Suffice to say since 1954 The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner is a superb family of dive watches well known for their resistance to water and trusted by professionals around the world.

There are 3 more things that I trust my life with besides the Rolex Submariner:

(1) My dive buddy!

(2) Atomic Aquatics make the Ferrari of diving regulators with their Titanium T2x series that is 838grams of uber light Titanium Ti-6AL-4V alloy precision-machined from a solid piece of material requiring 23 individual operations in a single pass.

(3) The Suunto DX dive computer with wireless air integration in titanium.

Needless to say, they all go extremely well with the precision machined 904L Stainless Steel used by Rolex in the making of the submariner.

When you having fun under pressure you need gear that you can trust. Rolex happens to be one of them.

Indeed a watch for individuals with taste and style for the deep end.

Enjoy the pictures.

PS: My apologies in advance for a dirty watch.......it has been used!

About the Rolex Ref. 116610

The Rolex Submariner Date reference 116610LV represents a pivotal chapter in the Submariner s storied evolution, introduced in 2010 to commemorate the collection s 50th anniversary. This reference marked Rolex s bold departure from traditional aesthetics with its striking green dial and bezel combination, earning it the beloved nickname Hulk among collectors. Manufactured from 2010 to 2020, the 116610LV bridged the gap between Rolex s heritage diving watches and modern manufacturing excellence, incorporating the brand s revolutionary Cerachrom ceramic bezel technology while maintaining the fundamental DNA that made the Submariner an icon of tool watch design.

At the heart of the 116610LV beats the robust Caliber 3135, a time-tested automatic movement featuring 31 jewels and delivering a reliable 48-hour power reserve. This workhorse caliber incorporates Rolex s proprietary Parachrom blue paramagnetic hairspring, offering superior resistance to shocks and magnetic fields while maintaining chronometric precision. The movement s construction reflects decades of refinement, with a full balance bridge providing enhanced stability and the caliber s proven architecture ensuring long-term reliability. The sapphire crystal features anti-reflective coating for optimal legibility, while the case maintains the classic 40mm proportions that define the modern Submariner silhouette.

The 116610LV s most distinctive feature remains its monochromatic green colorway, executed through a sunburst green dial paired with a matching green Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert. This virtually scratchproof ceramic bezel represents a significant technical advancement over aluminum predecessors, offering fade resistance and enhanced durability. The Oystersteel case and bracelet showcase Rolex s mastery of 904L stainless steel, while the Glidelock clasp system allows for precise micro-adjustments without tools. Among collectors, the Hulk has achieved legendary status as one of the most recognizable and sought-after modern Submariner variants, representing the perfect synthesis of Rolex s innovative spirit and respect for horological tradition. Its discontinued status as of 2020 has only enhanced its desirability in the secondary market, cementing its position as a modern classic.

I have to say that I didn't pay any consideration to it, be honest. But your pictures are making me re considering my position. I don't know if it will be enough to make me want to get one, but at least I will see one in the flesh. Which is a good start! The Green of the dial doesn't look that weird, on your photos. Thanks for the share! Best, Nicolas.

....bought this and put it straight into the safe for their kids when they are older. I have also never seen one in real life...just scans. I think one of the things that the Sub does well, generally, is make itself amenable to very different insert colours. Will also have to take a proper look at this in real life..... Superb pictures by the way....and so nice to see a watch being used as a proper tool

And we'll try to see one in the flesh... Which one will we wear for the occasion? A Big Crown, a 5508, A DRSD? ;) Best, Nicolas

depending on the lighting conditions and angle of the watch. the green dial can actually look like a black dial. a bit of a "chameleon" to be honest. A few others thought it was a black dial from a distance till they came up close and had a look to realise it was green. here are a few quick shots, dial looks black at some angles here it looks black here huh when angled, there are black shades mixed in with the green here you see the dark patches of "black" once again appear on the dial depending

this is what the watch looks like in total darkness. The lume has been charged by shining a diving torch over it for a few moments (Underwater Kinetics eLED light cannon, 825lumens, 10 seconds) Rolex Submariner illumination shot (blue!) You can see that the lume is so bright that it is reflected off the inside of the sapphire crystal and lights up some wording on the dial. The hour markers also shine brightly and are reflected off the " inner bezel " known more correctly as the " Rehaut" ( Frenc
