Hi guys,

Just wanted to share with you my latest acquisition! This V series 116619, also know as the Smurf!

I got this one on Tuesday and have been wearing it since. I am very happy with it and I think it will make an incredible daily watch.
I like the fact that it is made in White Gold so it's  kind of understated luxury, what makes it possible to wear everyday without atracting too unnedeed atention. Only who knows it, knows.

Another fact that made me crave for this watch was it's weight. It's way heavier than SS and for me, that's a plus, because you can really feel that you're wearing the watch, reminding me that I have something special on my wrist.

The blue dial and Cerachrom bezel are to die for. Depending of the light, you get different shades of blue, from very bright to very dark.
Something that surprised me is the fact that before owning this watch, I couldnt differentiate Stainless Steel from White Gold, but now, I can see that WG is a little warmer, having a kind of a champagne color to it.

Well, here is the very first picture of it!

Now, I would like to hear from you, what are your thoughts on this piece? Do you like it? Do you find it silly, as some have told me?

Thanks for looking,

About the Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 116619

The Submariner Date reference 116619, often referred to by collectors as the "Smurf," is a distinctive variant within the Submariner Date line, notable for its use of white gold and a vibrant blue color scheme. Introduced in the late 2000s, this reference marked a significant departure from the traditional stainless steel or yellow gold Submariner models, offering a more subdued yet luxurious option. Its white gold construction provides a substantial feel on the wrist, differentiating it from its steel counterparts while maintaining the classic Submariner aesthetic. The blue dial and bezel combination is a signature element, contributing to its unique identity.

This specific reference features a 40mm Oyster case crafted from 18k white gold. It is powered by the Caliber 3135, a self-winding mechanical movement known for its precision and reliability, offering a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The watch is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and includes a unidirectional rotating bezel with a blue Cerachrom insert. The water resistance is rated to 300 meters, consistent with the Submariner's design intent.

The 116619 appeals to collectors seeking a Submariner with an elevated material presence and a unique color profile. Its white gold composition offers a more discreet luxury compared to yellow gold, making it suitable for daily wear while still providing the heft and finish of a precious metal watch. The "Smurf" nickname highlights its memorable blue and white gold combination, making it a recognizable and sought-after piece within the broader Submariner collection.

Ach....what is silly? A sports watch in WG? Maybe. Silly could also be strapping on a 47 mm rose gold dive watch with a depth rating of 50m and going to the office? Do you like it? That's all that counts in the end.

so I think of it as if I've been given carte blanche to get it whenever I want. Hehe. And seeing posts like yours makes me wonder why I haven't. Beautiful watch. Enjoy.

some said that a sports watch in WG is silly, other said that this watch is the very same of a steel sub, so I'm paying a big premium for the blue color. But i dont mind it, they have their opinion and I have mine.
